Steampunk in the Summertime 

I love the steampunk theme and eclectic texture that it brings to any artistry.  Traditional steampunk carries a heavy dark color tone base.  Since its summer I wanted to change it up.  Check out how color can change the feel to any art form.  Here I have selected Core’dinations papers from the Brights collection for my card base and for the gear die cuts I have choose card stock from the  Gemstones Collection, Jade, Peridot, and Pearl.   Check out the links at the bottom of my post in the Supply List.

 Sanding Core'dinations give your projects so much texture.  Can you see that shine on the Gemstones cardstock.  Those gears sparkle like magic.

Here are some step up photo’s of my card.

As a student and newbie to scrapbooking my instructor taught us to make our own embellishments and this is where I developed my love for Tombow Mono Liquid Glue.  In this photo you can see one newly applied white mono glue line on the gears and some with the glue already dried.   

This is the tip some of you will know and a new tip to other scrapbookers.  Let the mono multi liquid glue air dry to a clear gloss and then press lightly to assemble your project.  This glue is re-positionable at this point and eventually dries permanently.

Did you know that?   

Where can you get a dual application glue like that?   

Re-positionable or permanent glue, the choice is yours.

This card project required this option to allow for attractive placement.

Scrap Around the World with BoBunny

Scrap Around the World is a wonderful website that inspires everyone to create artistic creations.  Join Scrap Around the World for their monthly challenges. I love them.  I love the owner, Helen Tilbury who is such a generous creative soul in a very warm climate....

Here is the mood board and sketch to follow for the month of July's  challenge.
I choose the hanging keys as my inspiration and flipped the sketch horizontally.  As of late, I have been hooked on banners of any sort.  I am trying to come up with more creative striking banners from the traditional, so stay tuned for more of these on my work.

Mix'd Media Journey

Thought I would share a quick look at some wonderful pages that I created with Ania Dabrowska this past week.  Ania is a wonderful educator and I hope to be one of her creative students. 

The photo of my husband and son, need to be cut and added to the above album covers.  This will be a great album to add my mix'd media creations to.

This weekend is the beginning of a open house tour of where creative bloggers create.  All of you have been to garden tour's in your local city or heritage homes decorated for christmas a fund raisers, well this is an open house tour of artistic creative designers.  Owner Karen Valentine, sweet designer is hosting this party tour, so let her know that Ava sent you over to visit My Desert Cottage.

This I believe is going to be a huge trend that is just gathering momentum, so stay tuned its going to be a wonderful journey.
